Annual Spaghetti Supper
St. Mark's Episcopal Church will hold its 15th annual Italian Night Spaghetti Dinner at the Fincastle Firehouse on September 25, 2010 from 4:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. The Italian Night theme is portrayed in both music and decorations. The meal cost is $7 for adults and $5 for children 6-12. There is no charge for children under 6 years of age. The meal includes a full portion of home-made spaghetti, salad, garlic bread sticks, lemonade, ice tea, and a variety of home-made desserts. Meals will be available for take-out. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the St. Mark's Episcopal Church Ministry Center office on 221 S. Roanoke Street in Fincastle and from church members or may be purchased at the door. Proceeds from the event go to outreach ministries in the local Fincastle and Botetourt County area. The event, which is put on each year by the Episcopal Men's Fellowship of St. Mark's, brings together a large part of the local Fincastle and surrounding community. The home-made desserts and spaghetti sauce are prepared by the St. Mark's Episcopal Church Women. Inquiries may be made at 473-2370.
Annual Membership Meeting
An annual meeting of members is held on the first Sunday in December. The purpose is to elect new members of Vestry and conduct other business as required. The meeting is held immediately after the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service. All confirmed communicants and adult baptized members belonging to St. Mark's, and acknowledging the authority of its Bylaws, who for three months preceding have been regular worshipers in the Parish and regular contributors to its financial support by pledge, subscription, or some other method by which they are known to the Treasurer, are entitled to vote on matters of the Parish where Parish-wide decisions are called for.
12th Night - January 8, 2011
St. Mark's organizes and produces an annual 12th Night concert in January. Our 26th concert will be held January 8, 2011 and will feature Blue Highway. St. Mark's began this series in 1985 at our church in Fincastle, VA. The concert was moved to DuPont Chapel at Hollins University in 2000 and was held there for six years. The concerts are held at Attic Productions' D. Geraldine Lawson Center for the Performing Arts in Fincastle.
The 12th Night concert is free to the public, but admission tickets are required due to the limited seating. Patrons are requested to bring food and money as voluntary offerings for the two benefiting charities, the Botetourt Food Pantry and the Botetourt County Social Services Department's Emergency Winter Fuel Fund. All concert proceeds are distributed among the charities. The Food Pantry offers needy families a variety of packaged and fresh food options from which clients may choose and provides other emergency assistance, while the Emergency Fuel Fund assists economically depressed families and individuals having difficulties paying winter utility bills. Advance tickets are available at all Bank of Botetourt branches, at Digital Image Printing in Daleville, and by mail at 12th Night Concert, Attn: Treasurer, P.O. Box 277, Fincastle, VA 24090. Mail requests should include a self-addressed and stamped return mail envelope.
